Ishawna officially inducted British pop singer Ed Sheeran into the Dancehall fraternity through their long-awaited collaboration Brace It. The new single was produced by Cordel “Skatta” Burrell, Donavon “Don Corleon” Bennett and Ishawna on her Legendary Records label. It dropped, Friday June 24, 2010.

The production features smooth rhythmic acoustics and hints of traditional Dancehall sounds. Although the composition is dominated by guitar strumming, there are also hints of several old Dancehall riddims like Dave Kelly’s Showtime Riff (the cheering crowd), and two of Tony “CD” Kelly’s most popular juggling riddims Bookshelf (during chorus) and Get Out_(at beginning).

The track was composed by Cordel Burrell and Peter Harrison, Ed Sheeran, and Ishawna. Ishawna asks the Bad Habits singer to “slide pon mi good up”, to which he responds “brace IT pon me”.

Ed shows his musical versatility by issuing more verses using Jamaican patois, not a sign of weakness. “I nah go, I nah go, I nah go leave you never. He sings the song in his familiar, silky tones.

Local fans love the mix of these two distinct artists.

One fan said, “Shawna this will hit the world by storm,” One fan added, “This is going change ur life and everything, 1 million views in no time. International publicity only up starting from here big Ed str888 outta Jamaica.”
