Tommy Lee Sparta is sending a message to the youths in the wake of a dramatic rise in crime rates in Jamaica.
Jamaica has seen a rise in crime in the past week. The island is currently mourning Gabriel King’s death at the age of 9. His throat was cut after his mother’s car was taken in an alleged car-jacking.
Even though Jamaica is just beginning a new year, the country has been experiencing a new wave in crime. According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force, 37 people have died in the span of eight (8) days from January 1, 2022 to January 8, 2022. This is 32 percent more than the same period last year.
In the first two weeks, there was an increase in violence towards children. Tommy Lee Sparta can relate as his daughter was injured in a shooting incident in March 2020. A nine-year-old boy also died in an attack in Flankers, Montego Bay.
Fans were updated by the artist that his daughter is currently in recovery and returning to normalcy.
“My baby hand is doing well, nah lie. He said, “Unno fi gi mi props,”
The artist shared videos of his daughter undergoing physiotherapy after the incident. She sustained injuries to her hands as her motor skills were affected.
Tommy Lee is currently serving his sentence for illegal firearm and ammunition possession.
The singer of “Spartan Soldier”, was sentenced at the Gun Court division in Kingston’s Home Circuit Court last year.
According to police reports, the singer was taken into custody on December 14, 2020 after a 9mm Glock pistol and an extended magazine with 18 rounds of ammunition were found inside his waistband. This was following a search of his vehicle by the police.
Tommy Lee Sparta will be released from prison sometime around 2024. The investigation into the possible murders committed with the gun by the artist linked to gang-related activities continues.
