DJ Khaled is currently in Jamaica, recording new music for his album. Dancehall artist, Shane O ended up on his radar.
DJ Khaled, the American producer, shared a video on Tuesday showing Shane O freestyleling lyrics from his hit song “Dark Room” and gave the dancehall deejay a big boost.
ShaneO was spotted singing the lyrics outside Khaled’s vehicle. While in Jamaica to record his album, DJ Khaled has also tapped several Jamaican artists for the project.
DJ Khaled, who is turning the camera to show Shane O, says “They didn’t believe in us,” as he listens to the song’s motivational lyrics.
The video had over 116,000 videos and 5,000 comments by Wednesday. Many artists, including Busta Rhymes, Offset, and dancehall/reggae artist Jah Vinci, and Dre Island Music, responded to the post with approval.
Shane O, real name Roshain McDonald was just 16 when he entered the music industry while still attending Kingston Technical High School. Many of his songs are well-received, including “Lightning Flash”, “Wet Stress A Go”, “Crab Inna Barrel”, “Dogs In The Street” and “Ghetto Prayer”.
Although it is not clear if Khaled has any plans to work with Shane O, Khaled shared a video of him with Usain Bolt, a sprinter and music producer, in Kingston. They were enjoying the nightlife with other artists like Sizzla and Bounty Killer.
He also shared in another post that Capleton would be on his forthcoming album.
DJ Khaled revealed earlier this week that he and Sharon Burke from Solid Agency had made plans for a concert called “Khaled and Friends Concert” in Jamaica.
