Rytikal, a dancehall artist, is thanking God after being involved in a car accident on his way home from a performance on Friday evening.
According to reports, Rytikal was on his way back from a performance at Muschette High School in Wakefield, Trelawny, when he was involved in the accident. The artist had performed at a school event to raise money for the track team.
A video of the accident, in which a white car is seen lying on its side on the highway, has gone viral online. It’s unclear who owns the car, but unconfirmed reports indicate that the artiste was not behind the wheel, and no one else was hurt.
Rytikal’s real name is Ryan McFarlane, and he is best known for his hit singles “Chosen,” “Cookie Jar,” “Living,” and “Smoke My Troubles Away.”
However, in January 2021, he was charged with possessing a firearm and ammunition. According to police, the artist was stopped and searched after being observed acting suspiciously. He was interrogated, and a search of his vehicle revealed a Taurus.380 pistol with 12 rounds of ammo. The artist claimed the gun was a prop for a music video, but he was arrested and charged.
He was cleared of the charges in February 2022, and fans can expect to see a more pure and positive side of him.
The artist, who is known for lyrics about guns and violence, announced earlier this year that he was changing his music style and now goes by the moniker “Purytikal,” but he did warn fans that some of his unreleased music may not reflect his new demeanor, which is out of his control.
