Popcaan receives a hero’s reception in The Gambia before his sold-out show.
The Gambia is your home! This was the sentiment that Popcaan shared with his fans as he visited the African coast. The “Levels” singer decided to stop in the smallest country on mainland Africa and show his fans back in Jamaica, and indeed the rest, how the Gambian people embrace him.
Popcaan shared in a late-2013 post that he was coming back to the Motherland. He also said that Gambian fans can expect a spectacular performance. He had declared, “My Gambian people are ready! He promised that The Unruly Boss would be there live with my entire group on January 15, at the Bakau Independence Stadium!” And now, he has delivered. His promise is being kept and people can’t get enough of him.
Popcaan is shown with his entourage in a video at what appears to have been a crocodile sanctuary. The enclosed area was home to the large carnivores, which attracted visitors who tried to photograph these animals who were even more docile.
There were more than twenty people busy taking selfies and group photos, appearing to be comfortable with predators on the ground. Until someone called “Troubledeh deh!” much to the amusement most of the people gathered.
The Unruly boss, wearing a complex African wooden chain, was seen shopping in the commercial district in another clip called “We on the smiling Coast.”
The entertainer from “Live Some Life” was walking with a small wooden staff in his left hand and a wineglass in his right. After taking a look at the ware of the merchant, he moved on to the next stall, commenting, “Thy rod, thy staff.”
Another video shows him riding in a procession of cars with young Gambian men who were seen peering out of their windows. He even sat on top of some vehicles.
Some mobile fans were so excited to see Popcaan that they drove in another lane to the amusement of the entertainer. One of them shouted “Outside!” Trouble! People lined the streets to see the Jamaican star and cheered him on as he drove by in the motorcade.
