Vybz Kartenl’s son Likkle addi claims he isn’t the father.
There was a lot of buzz in 2020 after it was revealed that Vybz-Kartel’s youngest son was 15 years old and had effected a pregnancy with a female 18-year-old. After photos of a baby shower were posted on social media, Vybz Kart and Tanesha “Shorty” Johnson, the young artist was dragged to squalor by his parents.
In a recent interview, Likkle Adi revealed that he “isn’t a father” after appearing happy and excited to be a father at such an early age.
He was asked by hosts of the show The Fix how he handled the backlash caused by social media after he announced that he was expecting a boy in 2020. The artist replied that he couldn’t answer the question because he wasn’t a father.
He begins, “At that time that was an Internet frenzy but mi cannot answer that question since I am not a dad.”
The hosts were clearly stunned and paused for a while before remarking, “Not a father?” The baby is not yours? Mi confused,” Nardo Hart asks.
Likkle Addi says, “Not a father.” It’s just a confirmation. I just wanted to let people know that people still ask me. He says, “Yeah, confirmed.”
He was asked if he had any doubts about the baby’s identity. He responded that he posted the picture of him and the young woman smiling.
He said, “At that time, well mi did feel elated at that time but mi nuh feel anyway about it. Live and learn every day, anuh me a di first.”
Likkle Addi isn’t the only dancehall musician to talk about getting the “jacket,” which Jamaicans call the man responsible for the paternity.
Vybz Kartl only shared photos of his grandson, Likkle Vybz’s child, so it seems that the DNA test was performed a while ago. Since the announcement of his pregnancy, Vybz Kartel has not shared images of any other child.
Many people had hurled vitriol at Likkle Adi and his parents. They felt they failed as parents. As a result, the young man was forced to take on the burden of fatherhood while he should have been finishing high school. Vybz Kartl stepped in to help both the expectant parents.
Kartel’s two sons, however, showed maturity and articulation in an interview with The Fix. They spoke about music and their journey together as UTG duo.
The host asked them who they wanted to be like in dancehall today.
“Memba says we fathered a Vybz-Kartel enuh, and Vybz Kartenl set one bag of a trend bout this place so how can we fi just get up to follow an artist?” Likkle Vybz inquired.
He said that 95% of them enuh a Vybz Kartel der pattern enuh how UTG fi come to be out and siddung and pree tell ‘jah knows a so we fi attempt the thing like that n a ova’.
The Fix tried to get the brothers involved by asking them if they trust Popcaan. Their father had problems in the past with Popcaan and a court witness lastyear said that Popcaan ordered the hit on Popcaan’s life.
As he ended the line of questioning, Likkle Vybz, an older brother, said “Mi nuh believe nobody.”
