Skeng was not happy when a Guyanese radio host mixed him up alongside Skillibeng, a fellow dancehall artist.
As they establish themselves on the music scene, dancehall is witnessing a rise in talent among younger artists. Skillibeng recently signed with RCA label Intence, Jashii and Skel. Skeng is one of the most popular local artists.
Although the artist’s music has not been received well, Jamaicans have been able distinguish his music from that of other artists, particularly Skillibeng who has a distinct style and music content.
These distinctions are still possible for international fans who cannot keep up with the talented dancehall artists Jamaica produces.
At least, this is what appears to have been the case with one Guyanese radio host that failed to conduct his research.
The interview clip was posted online by the host who asked Skeng about his collaboration with American producer DJ Khaled.
The host stated, “I noticed that you’re now very popular on social media now. Too many people touching down now with Skeng with yesterday and the previous day I noticed you had some work with DJ Khaled.”
Skeng said “no” but the host asked, “It was me.” The deejay, obviously embarrassed by the mess-up, replied, “No man. It’s not you.”

The journalist doesn’t apologize for his embarrassing error, but he continues to laugh and say, “Oh my bad, wrong one.”
While he seems to be ignoring the situation, the artist’s expression changes and he becomes visibly upset as his smile is replaced with a scowl.
Skeng visited Guyana for a weekend to attend a two-day music festival. After his passionate promotion of guns, gunshots rang out during Skeng’s first appearance Friday night.
Skeng, who is actually Kevon Douglas, is 21 years old. Skeng, his stage name, first appeared on the music scene in 2019. He quickly built a huge catalog of music that includes 30 songs. His most popular tracks include “Brrp,” Street Cred, and “Street Cred.” Skeng’s biggest hit was “Gvnman Shift,” which he released in 2021.
Skillibeng is best known for his song “Crocodile Teeth”, which was later recorded in collaboration with Nicki Minaj. His RCA label deal was later extended to him, and he is currently on tour supporting his EP Mr. Universe and the hit song “Whap whap” were his songs. He was spotted last week with DJ Khaled who suggested that new music was on the horizon.
