Groovin In The Park Chat 2023 Series With Sir David Rodigan

631

NY: Groovin In The Park’s roving reporter Jamila Glean sat recently with Sir David “Ram Jam” Rodigan, MBE OD for the ‘Groovin In The Park’s Chat Series’ to wax about his decorated career, sound clash and what fans at Groovin In The Park will experience on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens, NY.

David will be a part of a four ‘Continent Sound System Showcase’ along with Dynamq from Africa, Bass Odyssey from Jamaica and Yard Beat from Japan

It was a very engaging, candid conversation and David being the walking encyclopedia of reggae, dancehall and sound systems, dropped a few nuggets about his decorated career.

Rodigan is not new to the world of sound systems having clashed with established sound systems like Killamanjaro, Stone Love, Barry G and the sound from the Hills of St Ann, Jamaica Bass Odyssey. For the record, David’s passion for Jamaican music was fuelled by watching Jamaican star Millie Small deliver a scintillating performance of her 1964 hit “My Boy Lollipop” at the Ready Steady Go! TV show.

The Four Continent Sound System Exhibition on June 25, promises to be explosive and entertaining. This lyrical battle promises to be a firing line of beats, classic hits, future hits and a perfectly-timed barrage of specials. It will be a sonic war where only the best of the best sound systems will survive. When all the screams, jeers and cheers are over and done, the real winner of the sound exhibition will be the captive audience who gets a front row seat at Groovin to experience an incomparable and epic musical journey. I guarantee, everyone will be talking about it for many years to come.
