Last weekend, Crown Boss, a dancehall artist, was killed in an attack in St. Ann.
Crown Boss’s family and friends would have never known that Friday’s interaction with him would be his last. An upcoming artist from Spicy Hill was found dead at a Claremont St. Ann’s guest house on Saturday morning. All indications point to murder.
Crown Boss (real name Demarco Peynado) was found dead by police after sustaining gunshot wounds to his body. When checks were not made to the Treasure Inn Hotel, employees became suspicious. The authorities removed his body and launched an investigation into the circumstances of the murder. Since then, there have been theories that his death may have been a reprisal for the February 2022 shooting at Spicy Hill in where two people were attacked. There have been 13 murders in the “garden parish” since the beginning of the year up to April 9, 2022.
Peynado, 27, also known as ‘Dukey,’ has recently made waves in the music industry with songs like “ATM”, Drop Top”, “Money Brain”, “Money Cya Done”, and “Money Cya Done”, featuring Jahvillani. According to The Gleaner Tevin Richards, a producer at YGF Records, has worked with Crown for many years. He stated that he has many unreleased tracks that Crown Boss has done that he will try to pass on to his family.
Richards shared with us that he was devastated by the news about Peynado’s death. It’s sad to lose someone we love. We will never see them again. He said, “I just have to say Rest in Peace Crown Boss.”
Many fans of the artist have shared their sorrow on social media and offered their condolences to the family. One fan wrote: “Jah jah, see and know mi artist it f*ckup fi hear you gone bro, but may your soul be in peace.” Another friend of Dukey added, “Mi call yuh!” Answer your phone nuh.
