Remembering Donald “Tabby” Shaw of The Mighty Diamonds

728

There is little more I can add about the heartbreaking loss of Tabby Diamond this week that hasn’t already been said. I know many of you are running tribute programs to Tabby in the coming weeks, so I wanted to provide access to the albums in VP and Greensleeves’ catalogs.

The Reggae Anthology set put together by Chris O’Brien in 2013 is really all you need, but if you want to dig a little deeper, I’m sending four other albums, The Real EnemyBust OutGet Ready, and Live In Europe.

On a more upbeat note, on behalf of King Jammy, thanks to all for the tremendous support of King Jammy Destroys The Virus In Dub, It’s not easy for dub albums out there, so thanks for showing this project so much love. I just extended the download period through April if you didn’t grab it before.

As always, feel free to request any audio from the catalog, and if we have it, I’ll set it up for you, and if you’re having any issues with the download interface, please let me know.

“Ghetto Living”

You and me and she got to make it
While there is life, there is hope
And where there’s a will, there’s a way, yes
Out of the ghetto

Mother and father couldn’t take
And all as they tried, they couldn’t make it
Out of the ghetto

And now we come as the younger ones
(Tired a ghetto living)
We got to run, come and take our stand
(Tired a ghetto living)
We got the right to every inch of land
(Tired a ghetto living)
That’s why we got to fight for our right
(Tired a ghetto living)
