Paul Hall, Reggae Boyz’s head coach, says that Thursday’s friendly against Peru is crucial to the team’s preparations.
The match will not be played in the FIFA window. Additionally, a few of Jamaica’s regular starters from recent Concacaf World Cup qualifiers won’t be available.
The match in Lima (Peru) will take place seven days before the next World Cup qualifier between Jamaica and Mexico at the National Stadium.
Hall stated that the Peru game was vital as it allows us to see what is possible to us.
Hall stated, “It’s a chance for players put their best foot forward and for me see them in close quarters. What they look like in a match against a strong team.”
Coach Hall emphasized that this is an enormous opportunity for the Reggae Boyz 24-man team for the World Cup qualifiers against Mexico on January 27 at National Stadium in Panama City and against Panama on January 30 in Panama City.
He said, “It’s always a chance for them, because we want to have the best Jamaican players, and if possible, pick the best 11 players and the best team to support them.” Hall stated that there are many good players in the group. It is all about what they can contribute and how they can add value to Jamaica’s national team.
Reggae Boyz will be leaving the island today, January 17th.
