Popcaan was able to live up to the October promise he made to his Gambian fans. The place to be was the Bakau Independence Stadium in Banjul in “The Smiling Coast of Africa”.

Popcaan was welcomed like an Olympic champion by Banjul International Airport upon his arrival Friday and during a motorcade before the show.

He performed for over an hour with his entire band as he promised. According to reports, the Bakau Stadium has a capacity of 40,000. The standard tickets cost $1,000 Gambian Dalasis, or $18USD.

The Numbers don’t lie artist thanked his Gambian supporters for their support during what he called a historic moment. “Thank you again, smiling coast of Africa and @AbsoluteEGm!” He tweeted, “We made history in Gambia last night!”

He also posted a drone photo of the stadium grounds and thanked his Gambian followers for their support. “Lead by example! Gambia unruly rollout super heavy, thank you!” He noted that #UNRULY was his motto.

He also shared with his fans that his phone had been stolen and that he needed their help to recover it.

“Thanks Gambia, it was a historic night now to find my iPhone (and bring it to me hotel”) he tweeted. This elicited teasing messages and jokes from his followers who thought he had stolen the device from unruly Gambians.
